Mission Statement

Drakes' Heavy Haul Ltd., headquartered in Castlegar, BC, is dedicated to becoming the preferred partner for transporting oversized loads. Our primary goal is to offer secure, effective, and dependable services that guarantee the smooth transportation of heavy and wide loads across North America, even through difficult routes and borders. Our team is motivated by a strong desire for perfection and an unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and success of our clients' shipments, as well as the safety of our employees and the general public.

Who We Were

History

Drakes' Heavy Haul Ltd. was established in 2017 but the journey began much earlier. Kevin was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to BC in his teens. Like his father, who had a passion for restoring and driving British classics, Kevin loved exploring his surroundings from behind the wheel. He set his sights on a future operating big trucks and started in his early 20s driving a tow truck.

Amanda, raised in Sparwood, British Columbia, came to the trucking industry in her early 20s as well. She started in Sales and Dispatch for an international pick up and delivery company. Building on her skill set she graduated to Piloting before eventually deciding to return to school to become a nurse. She worked in nursing for 8 years after graduation and brought her experience and knowledge back to the trucking world when she returned to life on the road in 2018.

Kevin and Amanda met in the early 2000s while working for the same trucking company. They shared a great appreciation for the beautiful landscape they traversed every day on the road. When not working, you could find them on a boat or taking in an epic concert. They spent the next several years mastering their skills on the road and in the shop, before deciding to branch out.

The dream to establish their own low bed hauling company was realized with the purchase of a used power unit and low bed in 2017. The first year was an adventure and they were so grateful for the support from their customers!

By Spring of 2020 they had upgraded to a brand new Kenworth and demand for hauling was exploding! They hired an experienced driver (Alex) to join the team and they shared the vehicle, Kevin working the night shift, while they waited for their 2nd truck to arrive.

They knew before that unit landed they wanted to purchase a 3rd one in order to expand the team and their services. Drakes' Heavy Haul Ltd. was up and running with plans for further success and growth!

Today

Over the past 6 years we have worked tirelessly to build our team and grow our business. We now have 4 trucks and our team includes 4 drivers who travel a combined total of 775,000 kilometers each year! We also have a dedicated office team who ensure all the behind the scenes planning is managed expertly.
